NEW DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE GUIDE ANSWERS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RIGHTS AND ROLES OF SERVICE ANIMALS

A service animal is defined as “a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability.” Business owners and the general public are often confused about the rights and roles of service animals. The U.S. Department of Justice has published a new eight-page guide of frequently asked questions about service animals and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The guide covers 37 questions and answers and clarifies the rights and responsibilities of people with disabilities who use service animals. Read the guide
