Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter does have an active search and rescue team that’s being coordinated with the The Humane Society of the United States. We are also working through emergency management. There are multiple search teams that are searching the city and county areas. Contact the shelter via FB messenger if you cannot come by. There have been many pets coming in throughout the past day. If they are at the shelter, they are safe. The volume of activity there is really high as is the amount of messages. Please be patient as cellular service is the only way of communication via FB while staff is at the shelter and cellular service currently is not very good.

***All of the staff with the animal shelter will identify themselves and be in one of our support vans. All the rescuers with HSUS are all in clearly marked rescue vehicles and in uniforms. If you need any of our assistance and see them, please stop them. There have been reports of a few outliers who are trying to rescue pets. We have been told some have been transported outside of the city/county. While the intentions are most likely pure, some of these people who have lost their pet family may not have transportation, communication or homes anymore. Transporting these animals outside of the area is or will make it more difficult for a reunion. If you are housing a displaced animal, please contact the Animal Shelter so the animal can be added to the database.
