Kentucky State Advisory Panel for Exceptional Children (SAPEC): The Panel
conducts a public hearing at each quarterly meeting. The meetings are held
in various locations throughout the Commonwealth to allow for statewide
public input. During Public Hearings the role of the Panel members is to
listen to your concerns and comments. The responsibility of the panel at
public hearing is not to offer solutions or to give advice, but to use the
information to make recommendations to the Department of Education on how
best to serve and meet the needs of children with disabilities in Kentucky.
Comments are compiled, reviewed and submitted to the Panel Standing
Committees. The Panel then forwards their recommendations to the Kentucky
Department of Education's Division of Exceptional Children Services for
review. Comments may be stated before the Panel or submitted in writing. You
do not have to be present to submit comments for review. For information,
contact Renee Scott at renee.scott@education.ky.gov or by calling Kentucky
Department of Education (KDE) at (502) 564-4970.
