Transition is scary for many because of the unknown. This is also true for our children. Even minor changes can make a huge impact on our children. Preparation is key to any successful transition. It can be a simple change in your daily schedule which can affect how successful the rest of the day will be. Our lives in general may change minute to minute; but for the transitions we know that will be coming, small steps leading up to that transition will help it go smoothly. Sometimes just having the child go to the school and meet the new teacher and/or see the new room prior to their first day can help them, so that the first day is not such a shock.
