About Us
KY-SPIN, Inc. (Kentucky Special Parent Involvement Network) is a 501(c)3
non-profit organization dedicated to promoting programs which will enable
persons with disabilities and their families to enhance their quality of life.
KY-SPIN, Inc.
has a Board of Directors comprised of parents and professionals who provide
guidance and assistance to the various programs.
The mission of KY-SPIN, Inc. is to empower and support individuals with
disabilities
and their families to effectively advocate for and access needed
information,
resources and support networks in order to enhance the quality of their lives.
SPIN
PTI
(SPIN
Parent Training & Information Project)
is
funded by the US
Department
of Education.
Through
a “Families Training Families”
model of training, consultants throughout the state conduct community workshops,
provide
information and support to families of children with all types of disabilities
on the issues of laws, rights,
listening and
communication
skills, and understanding their child’s disabilities.
In collaboration with the
Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs
(CCSHCN).
KY-SPIN, Inc. has established outreach activities to underserved families
throughout Kentucky. SPIN
consultants are currently in the Commission offices once a month to offer
information, resources and support to families. Monthly newsletters are
distributed to all CCSHCN office for families and staff.
In an agreement with KDE (Kentucky Department of Education), SPIN assist schools and communities in providing educational information and training opportunities to parents of children with disabilities consistent with the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).

KY-SPIN, Inc. is working to
build our anti-bullying program through Bullying awareness and education for all
throughout the state of Kentucky.
